Group operators
Last updated July 18, 2026
Not available right now: Creating and promoting Groups is parked for a later rollout. This operator guide remains intact for existing deep links and for the feature's return. Use Channels for a creator feed today.
This page is for people who run Announcr groups (membership circles). For one-way creator channels, see Channels. Claimed brands (token mints) are under Brand operators.
You need a plan that allows creating groups — free plans can join groups and can create channels, but cannot create groups. Check Premium for slots and member caps.
Create a group
- Open Groups → create a group.
- Choose a name, visibility, and forced voice pack (from packs your plan allows).
- Optionally set a description and later add directory tags (public groups only benefit from tags in Discover).
- Open Group settings to set a group icon and a sample announcement so joiners recognize you.
Manage the group
From the group page (/group/<id>) or Groups list → Group settings (/group/<id>/settings):
| Task | Who |
|---|---|
| Broadcast announcements | Owner, admin (group page) |
| Group settings (icon, name, visibility, pack, tags, sample) | Owner, admin |
| Invites | Owner, admin |
| Paid join / min-balance pricing | Owner only |
| Withdraw join earnings | Owner only |
| Appoint / remove admins | Owner |
| Ban members | Owner, admin |
| Dissolve group | Owner |
Invites
Create invite links from the group. Share the invite card path (/i/…) for rich OG previews, or the join path. Revoke unused codes anytime.
Group icon
Owners and admins can brand the group under Group settings → Identity & discovery → Group icon.
Upload
- Pick any common image (JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, …). You do not need to export WebP yourself.
- Announcr crops to a square and stores a small optimized image for the app.
- The icon shows on the group hub, Groups list / Discover, and spoken broadcasts (Spotlight subject).
Generate with AI
- Uses your group name (required), description (recommended for better results), directory tags, visibility, voice-pack flavor, and an optional short hint (for example "knight helmet" or "neon wolf").
- Name and description can come from what you typed in the settings form — fill those in first for an on-theme emblem.
- Generation is rate-limited so the feature stays available for everyone.
Remove clears the custom icon; members see initials from the group name again.
Sample announcement
In Group settings, set a short sample (typed TTS in the group pack, or a voice clip). It appears on invite cards and the public directory with a prominent Listen to sample control — use it so joiners know how you sound.
Tags (public directory)
In group settings, assign up to a few thematic tags from the platform catalog (DeFi, News, Mature, …). Tags only help discovery when visibility is Public.
Delayed broadcasts
When composing a broadcast, pick a delay (5 minutes–48 hours). TTS is rendered when you schedule; the platform delivers at the chosen time. Throttle still applies when you schedule.
Monetization
Paid join (escrow)
- Link a Solana wallet under Settings.
- In group settings (owner), enable paid join and pick an allowlisted mint + amount.
- Joiners pay into platform join-escrow (not your wallet directly).
- Platform fee is taken at join (configured by Announcr); the owner share accrues as available balance.
Rules of thumb:
- No automatic refunds on leave or ban
- You withdraw when you want — funds are not auto-swept to you on each join
- Fee rate is platform-wide; the joiner's UI shows fee included in the price
Min-balance gate (not a payment)
Require holders of a token without charging join fee. Use for "whale rooms" or token-gated audiences. Rechecked roughly daily.
Withdraw earnings
On the group dashboard, open earnings / payout:
- See available balance per mint.
- Request a withdraw to your linked wallet.
- The worker settles on-chain; status shows pending → confirmed (or failed).
If something is stuck, contact support with the group id and withdraw id. Admins can force-payout in rare cases.
Platform fee
A percentage of each paid join is reserved for the platform. You only withdraw the owner share. Fee sweeps to Announcr treasury are an admin operation — not something creators initiate.
Best practices
- Keep broadcasts short and announcement-shaped (limit is tight by design)
- Use Group settings (full page from the Groups list or group hub) for icon, sample, tags, and monetization — not a cramped modal
- Set a group icon early so the hub, Discover, and broadcasts look like your brand
- Prefer a short description before Generate with AI so the emblem matches your topic
- Update the sample when you change voice pack
- Use Public + tags only if you want strangers finding you in Discover
- Prefer invites for private teams; paid join for exclusive audiences
- Do not promise refunds — the product does not offer them after a successful join payment
