Emoji reactions

Emoji reactions let you respond to a message with a single emoji — a quick 👍, ❤️, or 🔥 — without sending a new spoken announcement back. They are a lightweight acknowledgement, not a reply, so nobody gets a fresh alert when you react.

When reactions are available

Reactions are turned on per message by the sender's plan at send time:

Personal messages (to contacts) — available when the sender is on a paid plan. You (the recipient) can react on any plan; reacting is always free.
Token announcements and group broadcasts — available when the broadcaster is on a paid plan. Any active member of that room (token subscribers / group members) can react.

Messages from a free-plan sender simply show no react control. Listening and reacting never cost credits.

React to a personal message

Open a message in Messages, or hover its row in the list, and pick an emoji from the quick-react strip. On desktop the strip (and the play / Spotlight buttons) appear on hover to keep the list uncluttered; in the opened message they are always visible. Your reaction sends instantly — no announcement is spoken to anyone.

What the sender sees — "React preview"

When you send a reaction-enabled message, a small React preview appears in a corner of your screen for a few seconds. It is the same card as the normal message display (not a compact toast), showing what you just sent.

If someone reacts:

Their emoji floats up the screen with their name underneath, so you can see who reacted.
If you had already dismissed the preview, it fades back in briefly to show the reaction.

Reactions stay visual for the sender — nothing is spoken.

React preview settings

Under Settings → React preview you control:

Initial display — how long the "just sent" card stays up (about 3–120 seconds; default 10).
After a reaction — how long the card lingers each time a reaction lands (about 5–120 seconds; default 30).
Position — which corner the card and floats use (bottom-right by default; also bottom-left, top-right, top-left).

These preferences are saved to your account.

Reactions on broadcasts — shared counts

Token announcements and group broadcasts add a shared reaction count bar that everyone in the room sees — for example 🔥 128 ❤️ 44. Counts update live as members react.

The author (the token dev, or the group owner / admin who sent it) additionally gets live floating reactions with reactor names, just like a personal-message sender. So a big audience can't flood the author's screen, those floats are sampled and rate-limited — but the counts stay exact no matter how many floats are shown.

React the same way: open the broadcast and tap an emoji. A short cooldown prevents spamming.
